Education goal

Learn how to build your own beautiful wooden model boats.

Description

item photo item photo A model of the Chaisson Dory.
During this 6 day course, you will build your own wooden dory model. You can choose between the 12 foot 6 inch Chaisson dory tender or the 14 foot Chamberlain Skiff. Both are popular wooden dory designs and make great learning boats for your first model. You will create your own molds from plywood, and will plank your boat in Western Red Cedar. The class is instructed by gifted artist and boatbuilder Gary Larkins, who graduated from the Boat School in 1998. Follow the link to Gary's Classic Sea Chests website to view some of his beautiful model boats. The class size is kept small for individual learning styles.
